The Johan Sverdrup field installation campaign in the North Sea has continued with ‘Vilje’ – the drilling platform jacket.
The 21,300 tonnes steel structure was recently installed next to ‘Ægir’, the riser platform jacket set up last summer.
The now second visible structure out on the Johan Sverdrup field was delivered by Kværner Verdal.
The Norwegian contractor sent off the drilling platform jacket on March 28, this year. It will be followed by the process platform jacket to be completed during summer 2018.
The jacket installation marks the start of one of the most hectic installation campaigns ever for a project in Statoil, the company said.
Two topsides, more than 400 km of pipelines and 200 km of power cables, two more jackets and a bridge – all in just a few months.
