Tullow and its partner United Oil & Gas (UOG) have launched a seismic acquisition program on the Walton Morant licence offshore Jamaica.
Seismic vessel Polarcus Adira has been contracted to acquire 2,250km2 of 3D seismic data.
According to UOG, Polarcus Adira arrived in Kingston on Friday, March 23, 2018 and following a quick turnaround the vessel departed for deployment on Sunday, March 25, 2018, with data acquisition starting on April 3, 2018.
The seismic acquisition is expected to take approximately 8 weeks and is centered on the Colibri prospect.
In November 2017, United Oil & Gas agreed to farm-in to the Tullow Oil operated Walton Morant licence, offshore Jamaica, at a 20% equity level.
United Oil & Gas, Brian Larkin, said: “We are very pleased with progress to date on our Jamaica licence and we look forward to seeing the initial results. We will update shareholders on completion of the survey in approximately eight weeks. In addition, we continue to evaluate similar high impact licences in neighbouring regions, which we believe could offer transformational growth opportunity, as we look to develop our business.”
