Oceaneering has launched a new global Engineering Consultancy, aimed at delivering specialist technical engineering solutions that complement its existing Asset Integrity business.
The new consultancy will increase global demand for specialist technical services across the energy industry, and its focus will be to solve complex and niche integrity issues for customers through a range of engineering services.
The consultancy will initially focus on piping/structural vibration analysis and the management of the risk of fatigue, remote monitoring/data acquisition and other broader static disciplines, before expanding to cover plant modifications, risk management, materials and corrosion consultancy and plant optimisation/life extension studies.
Oceaneering has embarked on a recruitment drive for the consultancy, opening a new office in Glasgow, with an expectation to recruit 20 specialist technical staff by year-end. While the U.K. will be the focus for recruiting technical authorities to provide governance across global operations, the firm will continue to expand the international team over the next few years. The consultancy will collaborate closely with the company’s already established regional teams, using existing resources to support the delivery of global projects.
Peter Flockhart, a hands-on engineer and business leader with more than 25 years’ experience will head the new service.
“This is an exciting time for the energy industry, as it begins to re-group and rebuild after several difficult years,” he said. “Our Engineering Consultancy business is a dynamic new platform for Oceaneering to engage with both new and existing customers and add real value to their operations by providing customer-focused consultancy services that help solve complex integrity problems.”
