Jifmar Adds North West Marine

Jifmar Offshore Services has acquired the Scottish company North West Marine (NWM) based in Oban.

After the acquisition of VDC Offshore in 2017, this investment illustrates Jifmar’s strategy to rely on locally established players to boost its development in France and internationally.

The JIFMAR group has now operational bases in Sète, Port la Nouvelle, Bayonne, Cherbourg and Lorient for France, Oban for the United Kingdom and Pointe- Noire in Congo as well as international implementations in USA, UAE, Mozambique and Tanzania. It represents more than 25 million euros in turnover and nearly 200 employees.

“North West Marine and Jifmar have the same DNA, both companies are oriented towards the realization of maritime projects. Complementarities are obvious and our teams have already started working together for several months,” Jean-Michel Berud, Chairman of Jifmar Offshore Services.

This partnership should allow both companies to break new ground in their development. While the Scottish coast accounts for 25% of Europe’s offshore wind power potential, North West Marine’s territorial base is said to be an undeniable asset for the group. Jifmar said it will offer the Scottish company its expertise in the management of turnkey offshore projects and support for developers of installed and floating wind farms.

In addition to the renewable energy sector, this acquisition also marks a diversification towards aquaculture for Jifmar. North West Marine has a proven track record of more than 25 years in this sector.

Finally, Jifmar will provide its new subsidiary with several of its vessels. This already started with relocation of vessel Paul B, with other vessels to follow.
