Heerema: BorWin3 Jacket En Route to German North Sea

Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) has completed and shipped out the BorWin3 jacket foundation, destined for the German North Sea.

BorWin3 jacket sailed away to its final destination on Tuesday, the company informed through social media.

Heerema is responsible for the procurement and construction of the jacket and piles for BorWin3 HVDC platform, under a contract awarded by Petrofac in 2016.

Petrofac, in a consortium with Siemens, has the full responsibility for the construction and offshore installation of the TenneT’s BorWin3 platform, which will house a Siemens HVDC station that converts the alternating current produced by the wind turbines to direct current before transmitting it onshore to the German national grid.

The next step for Heerema is the jacket installation in the North Sea at a water depth of up to 40 meters, approximately 100 kilometers off the German coast.

The commissioning of the BorWin3 is scheduled for 2019.
