DeepOcean Completes First East Anglia One Export Cable

DeepOcean has completed installation of the first of two HVAC export cables for ScottishPower Renewable’s East Anglia One offshore wind farm in the North Sea.

According to the company’s social media update, the 85km long cable was simultaneously laid and buried from DeepOcean’s Maersk Connector, utilizing its 7000te carousel and ACP2 cable plough spread.

“The proven solution delivered smooth installation activities, to schedule and without risk to the cable,” DeepOcean said.

DeepOcean secured the cable installation and trenching contract by Nexans for the East Anglia One in January 2017.

Offshore work will be undertaken by 2019.

The East Anglia One wind farm, due to be finished in 2020, will be made up of 102 wind turbines with a capacity to power around 500,000 homes.
