Subsea engineering and construction services provider Subsea 7 has secured contracts from Chevron for subsea installation services related to the Anchor field, located in the Green Canyon area of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
The Chevron-operated Anchor field is located approximately 225 kilometres off the coast of Louisiana.
Subsea 7’s scope of work includes project management, engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of the SURF components.
It includes, but not limited to, the production flowlines, risers, umbilicals, flying leads, jumpers, and associated appurtenances.
Project management and engineering will start immediately at Subsea 7’s offices in Houston, Texas.
Fabrication of the flowlines and risers will take place at Subsea 7’s spool-base in Ingleside, Texas.
Offshore operations should occur in 2022 and 2023.
Craig Broussard, vice president for Subsea 7 US, said: “The combination of the SURF scope for Subsea 7 and the ongoing subsea equipment delivery by OneSubsea, will allow the Subsea Integration Alliance to work in partnership with Chevron to unlock the value of an integrated approach to project optimization“.
Chevron sanctioned the Anchor project in December 2019. The field will be developed with seven subsea wells connected to a semi-submersible floating production unit (FPU) with a capacity of 75,000 barrels of crude oil and 28 million cubic feet of gas per day. The first oil is expected in 2024.
Chevron ordered the FPU hull for the project from South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME). OneSubsea will deliver a subsea production and multiphase boosting system and Aker Solutions will provide 24 kilometres of umbilicals for the project.
