Prysmian Provides Cable Tech for French Offshore Wind Farm

Prysmian Group will provide the “Made in France” cable technologies for the first French offshore wind farm, which will be developed by the EDF Renewables and Enbridge, a North American company.

South Europe Prysmian Group, on the occasion of the visit of the EDF Renewables Offshore Projects team
representatives at Prysmian’s centres of excellence in Montereau and Gron.

The Montereau centre of excellence manufactures 800 km/year of HV and EHV cables, supplying important French and international customers such as EDF Renewables, RTE, Vinci and Elia.

The plant specializes in the production of HVAC cables and accessories up to 500 kV and HVDC cables and accessories up to 525 kV.

“The development of more reliable and capable grid infrastructures for power transmission and distribution is key for the utilization of renewables. With the French projects, Prysmian Group is confirming its undisputed know-how, proving its capability for innovation and supporting the energy transition to smarter and greener power grids,” stated Raul Gil, VP Submarine Business Unit, Prysmian Group.

The company did not disclose the name of the wind farm for which the cables are being manufactured.
