Ørsted Cable Protection Deal for Seaproof Solutions

Bergen-based Seaproof Solutions, a Balmoral company, has signed a long-term frame agreement with Danish operator Ørsted for the development, design and manufacture of cable protection systems (CPS) to be used on offshore wind farms.

The companies will participate in a cooperative process to continuously research and develop CPS designs and processes with the agreement initially running for six years.

“The new frame agreement will see an increase in shared values between Seaproof and Ørsted that will build on the experience gained by working together on the world’s biggest wind farm, the 1.2GW Hornsea Project One, offshore UK,” said Henrik Bang-Andreasen, Seaproof Solutions’ CEO.

Earlier this year Seaproof Solutions was acquired by Balmoral and, according to the company, since then the Seaproof’s R&D, design, engineering, technical and manufacturing capabilities have all enjoyed significant improvements.

Engineering and projects director at Aberdeen-based Balmoral, Fraser Milne, said: “We are delighted with the synergies between the two organisations and the improvements introduced to Seaproof’s processes and procedures.

“Seaproof’s capabilities are recognised across the offshore wind sector through their impressive track record of more than 1500 successful cable protection system installations while Balmoral’s R&D and innovation capability is renowned in the offshore energy sector.

“Both teams are benefiting from each other’s collective experience and the frame agreement with Ørsted is testament to our joint engineering and innovation heritage.”
