Magseis Eyeing New OBN Survey in Americas

Magseis has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) for a full operation with its proprietary MASS nodes for an ocean bottom seismic survey in the Americas.

Based on Magseis availability of nodes, the operation will start at the latest in Q1 2019 and last for approximately two months, the company informed.

Magseis CEO, Per Christian Grytnes said: “We are very pleased to be trusted with our first project in the Americas, further expanding Magseis global footprint. The oil companies have expressed interest over time to get improved seismic images before deciding on how to optimize their drilling campaigns. We take comfort that this interest is gaining momentum into tangible seismic surveys which traditionally have been done with more conventional seismic techniques other than ocean bottom nodes (OBN).

“This LOI makes us confident that Magseis will increase its relative market share and in addition address a much larger market which used to be dominated by more traditional seismic techniques.”
