LMG Marin has secured a contract to design a new coastal research vessel for the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research.

The design contract was recently signed with the Institute of Marine Research (Havforskningsinstituttet) on board their recent newbuild “Kronprins Haakon”.

“We are very pleased to have the Institute of Marine Research as a customer – one of the significant shipping companies in the Bergens area,” says Torbjørn Bringedal,CEO of LMG Marin.

“We have worked hard for a long time to achieve this contract”. With high focus on understanding customer needs, plan a functional concept, and work close together with our client in the project up to the final product – appear as often before to give the solution. “

The vessel can be characterized as a compact multi-functional research platform that is well-suited to handle the demand of different operations, including trawling, diving, ROV handling, laboratory work, seabed mapping, etc.

The vessel will be approximately 35 meters long, within 500 gross ton and within coasting trade regulations. The vessel has an accommodation of 14 persons.
