Lion Air Contracts MSC to Recover Flight JT610 CVR

MPV EVEREST

Offshore contracting and vessel management company, Maritime Construction Services (MCS), has been awarded a contract by Lion Air for the recovery of the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and various additional instruments of the Lion Air flight JT610 that crashed into the Java Sea.

MSC said that if remains of the passengers or crew are found during the search, they will be handed over to the Indonesian SAR authority Badan Nasional Pencarian Dan Pertolongan (BASARNAS).

MCS will form a consortium with local technical partners Alliance Energy Solutions and PT Nadi Marin Subsea to provide the required air diving, survey and ROV services to perform the recovery activities.

The DP3 multi-purpose vessel (MPV) Everest will be used for execution of the project.

Anton Shishkarev, director of MCS, said: “The recent accident with the Lion Air JT610 is a real tragedy. We, at MCS, feel humbled and honored to be given the opportunity to support Lion Air during these difficult times, by contributing to identifying the cause of this accident. We will do our utmost to perform this project in a safe, professional and timely matter with respect for all involved. We are fully confident that our local partnership with Alliance Energy Solutions and PT Nadi Marin Subsea, combined with the deployment of the Everest provides the experience and resources needed for the recovery of the CVR.
