Energy Voice | Shell picks Sembcorp to build Vito platform

Sembcorp Marine today confirmed it would build the floating production unit for Shell’s Vito field in the US Gulf of Mexico.

Singapore-headquartered Sembcorp said the contract covered the construction of the hull, topsides and living quarters.

The two companies signed a letter of intent in December.

The topsides will weigh 9,200 tonnes and are designed to produce 100,000 barrels of oil per day and 100 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.

Vito is located 241kilometres south of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Sembcorp Marine senior vice president William Gu said: “We are delighted that Shell has awarded the Vito FPU contract to us. We are fully committed to executing and delivering the project safely and efficiently.”
