Energy Voice | Onshore Wressle oil discovery recommended for approval

Egdon Resources’ Wressle oil discovery in Lincolnshire has been recommended for approval by the local council.

North Lincolnshire Council’s planning officer said Egdon’s proposals address environmental concerns recommended the local authority allows the development to go through.

Campaigners have consistently raised concerns about water contamination.

The plans will be decided on at the planning committee next Wednesday.

Egdon holds 30% of the licenses containing the discovery, Union Jack has 27.5% and Humber holds 12.5%.

The remaining stake of 30% is held by Europa Oil and Gas.

Egdon managing director Mark Abbott said: “I am very pleased that the Council’s Planning Officer has recommended approval of the proposed Wressle development, having diligently considered the significant body of additional work and improvements submitted as part of the application.

“We hope that the members of the planning committee will agree with the considered recommendation of their professional planning officer (supported in this case by specialist advisers), the various regulatory authorities and statutory consultees and approve the application at next week’s meeting.”
