CWind Taiwan joins Greater Changhua cable route survey

CWind Taiwan has secured a contract by Van Oord to charter a survey vessel for the nearshore cable route survey at the Greater Changhua 1 & 2a offshore wind project in Taiwan.

Starting this March, CWind Taiwan will use Ocean Surveyor 3 to support Van Oord in conducting multibeam surveys of the wind farm.

According to the company, the vessel is being refitted with a moon pool prior to project commencement to ensure optimal accuracy of the survey data.

“CWind Taiwan is actively supporting all the ongoing offshore wind farms in Taiwan with our survey services,” said Ethan Wang, Commercial Director of CWind Taiwan.

“We are delighted to contribute our extensive experience through our Taiwanese-flagged survey boats and local crew into assisting Van Oord’s project in Taiwan.”

Van Oord is in charge of the transportation, installation and burial of the export and inter-array cables at the Greater Changhua 1 & 2a project under a contract secured with Ørsted in 2019.

The 900 MW project will feature 111 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW turbines installed on jacket foundations some 35 to 50 km off the Taiwanese coast.
