A crane on a drilling rig has collapsed and landed on a nearby oil production platform in the UK North Sea, a shocking image shows.
The picture was uploaded to the Rig Workers’ Rant Facebook page last night.
It is understood the drilling rig is the Valaris JU-120, owned by London-headquartered Valaris.
The rig is currently contracted to Chrysaor in the J Area in the central North Sea.
One worker said on Facebook that he understood the crane had landed on the bridge of the Judy platform.
Vessel location website Marine Traffic appears to show the Valaris JU-120, the new name for the Ensco 120, alongside Chrysaor’s Jasmine platform.
It is believed no one was injured.
Valaris, which used to be called Ensco Rowan, has been contacted for comment.
