Benthic Delivers Geotech Campaign Off Malaysia

Benthic and Asian Geos has completed its geotechnical investigation in the Limbayong Field, offshore East Malaysia for Petronas.

Asian Geos was awarded a contract by Petronas for the provision of soil investigation services for Limbayong deepwater development.

Benthic’s Portable Remotely Operated Drill (PROD 2) executed the geotechnical work scope from the MMA Valour. The PROD collected geotechnical borehole samples and Cone Penetration Test (CPT) to 100m penetrations, seismic probes to 40 meters and a range of 40 meters of CPTs in water depths ranging from 700 meters to 1040 meters.

Laboratory testing, reporting and interpretation are taking place in Perth.

We are very pleased with the success of this campaign, as this was Benthic’s first Malaysian project conducted in co-operation with Asian Geos,” stated Steve Pywell, CEO of Benthic. “Our teams worked collaboratively to execute the project safely and on schedule to meet the client’s project goals. We look forward to working together on future Malaysian deepwater projects.
