Baltic Connector Inks Inkoo Compressor Station Deal

Baltic Connector has signed a contract with RTA-yhtiöt Oy for the construction work to be carried out at Inkoo compressor station.

The contract covers excavation and foundation work as well as construction engineering work.

“The contract with RTA-Yhtiöt Oy launches the construction work at the compressor station. Progress in construction work enables our readiness for the equipment installation at the compressor station due in spring 2019. All this brings the project closer to 2020 when the Balticconnector natural gas pipeline will be taken into use,” says Baltic Connector Oy’s project director, Tom Främling.

The construction work at the compressor station will begin in June 2018 and end in autumn 2019. At the moment, grading work is being carried out.

Baltic Connector Oy is a state-owned company set up in 2015 to implement the Finnish part of the Balticconnector gas pipeline to be built between Finland and Estonia.

When completed, Balticconnector will connect the gas networks of Finland and the Baltic countries and will enable the opening of the gas market in Finland. The EU has granted funding to cover 75% of the project, and the Balticconnector gas pipeline is due to be completed by 2020.
