Aquabotix has launched the SwarmDiver – a micro unmanned surface vehicle (USV) and unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) that operates in a swarm.
According to the company, multiple SwarmDivers can function simultaneously as a single coordinated entity, be controlled via one operator on the surface, and perform dives on command to collect data.
In addition to defense and security applications, SwarmDivers can be deployed in research, harbor management and oceanography.
Weighing 1.7 kilograms at a length of 75 centimeters, the system has the ability to operate as both a UUV, with 50 meter dive-depth, and a USV.
Whitney Million, Aquabotix’s CEO, said: “Until today, there were simply no swarming unmanned vehicles with diving capabilities commercially available to users. SwarmDiverTM leads a revolution in underwater technologies, and we believe it is a gamechanger for both the Company and the industry.”
