AML Oceanographic has secured a deal to supply Moving Vessel Profiler (MVP) systems for Fugro’s unmanned surface vessel (USV).
The USV solution, designed for medium- to large-scale hydrographic survey applications, is currently in development with L3 ASV, and the first unit is scheduled for delivery in Q2 2019.
“Fugro considers MVP to be a critical component for the success of our USV strategy,” said Wim Herijgers, director Innovation Marine for Fugro.
“The MVP is already capable of profiling automatically and continuously without human intervention. We see this adaptation of MVP for autonomous vessels as a natural progression aligned with the future of hydrographic surveying and ocean research,” added Pete Reedeker, AML’s vice president of Deployment Systems.
Both MVP systems are scheduled for delivery in Spring 2019.
